Obituary of Sonia Braile

January 2, 1946 – Stuartburn, Manitoba

Sonia Braile, beloved wife of Armando Braile, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the age of 77 years.

Sonia was born in Stuartburn, MB, on January 2, 1946. She moved to Calgary, AB, where she met her husband of 50 years.

Sonia loved animals, and would help care for neighbors’ dogs, and fed the squirrels and birds daily, who lived in her tree in her front yard. Sonia also had a green thumb and always had flowers and basil in and around their home.

Sonia and Armando enjoyed many vacations together, including to Italy, Belgium, and Scotland, among others. Sonia and Armando loved to get dressed up and go dancing back in the day, usually at the German Club, the Italian Club, or the Italian Church Hall.

Sonia's main purpose in life was to care for her husband, Armando, especially these last five years. She did everything for him, and always put others first.

She will be most remembered for her amazing cooking. She would always go out of her way, and always made way too much food, and whoever was eating there would leave with the leftovers.

She also made, along with her husband, olives, green tomatoes, and hot peppers every fall for the freezer to be enjoyed year- round.

Besides her loving husband, Sonia is survived by four brothers, a son and in-law, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Sonia was predeceased by her parents and her sisters.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Sunday, September 17, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6), on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. An Interment Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery.
