Obituary of Kuen Hung Wong 黃朱群杏

September 9, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta
Kuen Hung Wong passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the age of 88 years surrounded by her whole family, whom loved her dearly.
Kuen met Wayne, her future husband, in Hong Kong. They married May 8, 1958, and travelled by ship and train to Calgary in October 1958.
She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Kuen loved gardening. She grew fresh Chinese vegetables and enjoyed looking after her many houseplants. Kuen will be remembered for her big family dinners and traditional Chinese dishes, especially at Chinese New Year.
In retirement, Kuen and Wayne travelled the world, especially Asia and Europe. They kept active with their outdoor walks.
Besides her loving husband, Wayne, she is survived by her sons, Terry and Byron (Alice); her daughter Shanda Chau (Edward), her five grandchildren, Spencer Chau (Patricia), Wesley Chau (Carly), Kaitlin Chau, Lauren Wong, Chelsea Wong; and her two great-grandchildren, Avery Chau and Nolan Chau.
Kuen was predeceased by her parents and two brothers Kenneth Gee and Frank Fee.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery (3219 – 4 Street NW, Calgary, AB, T2M 3A6).
