Sushila Patel

Obituary of Sushila Patel

July 24, 1937 - Lugari, Kenya

September 20, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Sushila Patel, beloved wife of the late Chandrahas Patel, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at the age of 86 years.

Affectionately referred to as “Mama” by her grandchildren, Sushila was the third-born child of Shankarbhai and Parvatiben’s six children. She was born in Lugari, Kenya in 1937. At the age of 17, Sushila and her family moved to Thompson Falls where she married Chandrahas and joined the Motibhai Govindbhai (MoGo) Family in Machakos. Sushila and Chandrahas immigrated to Canada in 1972 with their three sons, Mukesh, Kamlesh and Paresh.

Sushila cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her home was a place full of love, laughter, and food, where family gatherings were always filled with warmth. Sushila’s legacy lives on through the love she shared, the values she instilled, and the memories she created. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her two sons Kamlesh, and Paresh; her daughters-in-law Kalpna, Jayshree and Sandhya; her six grandchildren and their spouses, Amish and Anuka, Meera and Richard, Kunal and Amy, Anup and Sherri, Vishaal and Keshvi, Shivani; and her nine great-grandchildren, Maya, Rohan, Priya, Neal, Dylan, Iyla, Sonia, Neev and Amri. Sushila is also survived by her three sisters, Bhartiben, Jyotsnaben, and Bhagwatiben. May she rest in peace with her beloved husband, Chandrahas; her eldest son, Mukesh; her father, Shankarbhai; her mother, Parvatiben; and her brothers Chandrakant and Mhadukant.

The family would like to thank the staff of AgeCare SkyPointe for their compassionate care for Sushila. We would like to especially thank the nurses, nursing assistants, and personal support workers on the second floor who often treated Sushila as though she was part of their own family.

If family and friends so desire, as a special tribute to the recent passing of her eldest son Mukesh/Max, donations may be made directly to Rotary International.
