Obituary of Jim Seymour

June 13, 1946 - September 14, 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of James (Jim) Seymour, loving husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle, and friend, on Thursday September 14, 2023, at the age of 77 years.

Jim was born in Beardmore, ON on June 13, 1946, the fifth of nine children to Katherine and Robert (Earl) Seymour. Jim followed in the footsteps of his older brothers pursuing a career on the pipeline, he started off as a welder’s helper then worked his way up the ranks to the position of Superintendent before retiring.

He met the love of his life, Sandra, in Swan River, MB, they fell in love and were married about a year later. They moved to Edmonton for a time before eventually settling in Calgary where they welcomed Michelle, Carmen, and Jeffery. The kids and Sandy often travelled with Jim to wherever he was pipelining.

In his spare time, Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his grandkids and puttering around in the garage and yard.  He could fix almost anything and was there to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was generous and kind, a great neighbour and friend, and a respected employee and boss who will be deeply missed.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Katherine; brothers, Bill, George, John, Dick, and Dave; and sister Joan. He is survived by his sisters, Vickie and Pat; loving wife Sandra; children, Michelle, Carmen (Tom), and Jeff (Marla); grandchildren, Michael, Jayla and Rylan.

A private graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023. Family and friends are invited to join the Seymour’s for an open house to celebrate Jim’s life on Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Jim and Sandy’s home.
