Carrol Locke, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the age of 91 years.
Carrol was born in Nanton, Alberta on September 16th, 1932.
After many years with Alzheimer’s, she has gone to be with her “Bill” where they can eternally garden together in Heaven.
Carrol married William “Bill” Locke in October 1950. Travelling and working with Bill in construction camps they welcomed son Kendall in 1957, Darren in 1959 and daughter Kelly in 1963. Carrol and Bill moved to Rocky Mountain House, Alberta in 1960. They resided there until October 2018 when they moved to Calgary to be closer to family.
Carrol loved to camp, cook, and garden. She spent many years working for the Hudson Bay Company in Rocky as well as the women’s clothing store Petticoat Junction on Main Street Rocky.
Many people will remember her community involvement in Cubs and Scouts, Brownies and Guides, Rocky Recreation Board, Legion Women’s Auxiliary, Rocky Hospital Auxiliary, and the Order of Eastern Star.
Carrol and Bill were “second parents and grandparents” to many over the years in addition to their own. The house and yard were always full of many friends and relatives and camping trips usually meant a few extra campers tagging along.
Carrol’s grandchildren were able to spend many summers and holidays in Rocky Mountain House with Grandma and Grandpa and will always hold these special memories in their hearts.
Carrol’s children had the most amazing mother that was always there to sew, cook, craft, or organize things for any person, group, or organization.
