It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Joanne Pearl Marie Campeau, born on Monday, February 29, 1960, in Trail, British Columbia, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at the age of 63 at the Southwood Hospice in Calgary.

Joanne was a loving and devoted Mother and Nana, Daughter, Sister and Aunt, Niece, Cousin, and Friend. She had a fiercely independent caring nature and had a strong loyalty to her family. She was a devoted Mother to her daughter Chantal Marie Campeau and a proud loving Nana to Kaiden and Paetyn and to their family's furry canine babies, Angel and Bailey Bean. She leaves behind her family that she loved dearly, her father, Paul (Shirley Norris) Campeau, siblings, Cheryl Ann (Kerry) Oberg, Chrysta Bourne, Bradley (Merle Buchacher) Campeau, Jacqueline (Michael) Hoare, and Renata (Bradley) Kroeker, She was auntie Jojan to nieces and nephews, Trevor (Erin) Grant, Sherisse (Dean) Traff, David Hoare, Stephen (Shannon Boudreau) Hoare, and Emerson Kroeker; great-nieces and nephews, Avery, Easton, Chase and Sienna.

Joanne was predeceased by her mother Georgina Fleming in 2018, stepmother, Rosalie Campeau in 2007, nephew Mitchell Bradley Hoare in 1989, two angel grandbabies and her grandparents, Alphonse and Henriette Campeau and Stanley and Clarice Fleming.

Joanne was a valued employee for 24 years at Barko Holdings as the Corporate Controller. She was proud of her work over the years with her friend and boss Dwaine Barclay who predeceased her last year, beginning with her role as Senior Manager at CAM Teck Industries Inc, then AXYS International Inc.  She worked right to the very end, having her office set up in her room working from her bed at the Hospice, actively working in her role as Corporate Controller for Lucille Barclay of Barko Holdings. She valued their friendship and was grateful for the generosity of Dwaine and Lucille. Joanne was exceptionally proud of her recent contribution to the allocation of funds to be given to SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) Drone Pilot Program. Joanne's work took her to some amazing destinations; Toronto, Montreal, Los Angeles, New Jersey, Tampa Bay, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Dallas, Nashville, Krakov, Poland, and Bangalore, India and Frankfurt, Germany. Joanne enjoyed many vacations to Mexico, British Virgin Islands, Las Vegas and to British Columbia. As much as she loved all of the travel, home with Chantal and the kids is where she wanted to be.

Joanne shared this quote on Facebook, “You can travel the world over in search of what you need, and more often than not you will return home to find it.”

The family wishes to say a heartfelt Thank You to the wonderful staff and Volunteers at the Southwood Hospice for their exceptional compassionate care that they provided which allowed Joanne to complete her final journey with peace and dignity surrounded by the love of her family.
