Dear Kirker family,
I'm sorry to read of the passing of Dr. Kirker. I just wanted to say how grateful we were for his expertise as an eye specialist. He treated my sister, along with many other skilled physicians, and we are grateful for the dedication of individuals such as these. He made a difference. Our condolences, with gratitude...

Sending lots of love to all. I’m sorry I couldn’t be there in person today to celebrate Merv. Reflecting on many memories of the kind, steady and lovely human he was. It was a privilege to know him. XHeidi Dinning
Dear Corinne & family,
We’re sorry we couldn’t be at Merv’s memorial service. The online presentation was amazing. It was so special for us to hear all of the fine speeches and to watch the video. Mel and I both experienced Merv’s very professional expertise and he solved our problems very quickly. We recently re-played the Windermere Tennis video which included Merv being interviewed. These are such fond memories.

What a beautiful service. All of the tributes were so heartfelt, and it is obvious what an amazing legacy your "Pops" has left in his family and friends. I had the honour of practicing down the hall from Merv in the Calgary Medical Centre for many years, and referred many patients for his excellent ophthalmological care. He was a terrific surgeon and clinician, but more importantly, was such a caring and kind person, which all of our mutual patients appreciated so much. He was also a lot of fun, and I remember Corinne and Jean racing up the stairs to see if they could beat him travelling in the elevator: I think it was a tie, as we heard the ding of the elevator door and his laugh, just as they opened the stairwell door onto the 4th floor! I really miss him, and my sincere condolences to all of your family,
Laurie Dodds
Dear Corinne, Mike, Andrew, Doug and family,
I am sending you my love and deepest condolences. The service was beautiful. I only wish I had been able to be there in person. I have such fond memories of Merv. A true gentleman.
Best wishes

I had the privilege of working with Merv during his time at the Foothills Hospital. He was known by all for his cheerful compassion for the sick and his dedication to safe and contemporary ophthalmology, He was well respected as President of the Medical Staff by not only his medical colleagues but the many individuals that made up the work force at Foothills. On a more personal, he helped wife through a range of retinal problems for which both she and I were most grateful. Merv Kirker will be missed in Calgary and mourned by many. To Corinne, who made our visits to Merv's office so much more pleasant, I offer my condolences and that of our family. You were both there when we needed you.

This wonderful doctor looked after my mom when she came to visit us from Toronto. She required emergency surgery. He was just fabulously kind and skilled. Mom was a nurse by profession and commented on his wonderful hands for surgery. Condolences to his family.
