Maurice Elliott, beloved husband of Jackie Elliott, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday September 18, 2023, at the age of 80 years.

Maurice was born in Coventry, Warwickshire, England on February 24, 1943, to Alfred and Freda May. Maurice met Jackie in 1960 and they were married in 1965.

Although Maurice was an exceptionally talented pianist, he decided to pursue a degree in Applied Mathematics. He graduated in 1965 from the University of Aston in Birmingham, England with a Bachelor of Science. He continued his studies in Mathematics and in 1967 graduated from the University of Birmingham, England with a Master of Science in Operational Research.

Maurice began working for the tractor company Massey Ferguson in Coventry, England and in a serendipitous turn of events was offered a role in Toronto, Ontario. Maurice and Jackie immigrated to Toronto in 1970 and there they had two children Julie and Phillip. In 1980 they moved to Calgary where Maurice worked for several oil & gas companies including Dome, Amoco, and Husky.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, volunteering at his children’s sports activities, playing the piano, walking their dog Teddy, and working on Sudoku puzzles. He was also an avid photographer.

Maurice will be remembered most for his gifted intelligence, strong work ethic, wonderful kind and loving heart, sense of humor, and extremely generous nature. He volunteered with a number of organizations including Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Junior Achievement, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and the Diabetes Association.

Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his daughter Julie Elliott (Cheryl) of Calgary, AB, and son Phillip Elliott (Sara) of Walnut Creek, California, as well as his grandsons, Malcolm and Lucas.
