Obituary of Margaret Iris Landon Rogalsky (Kermode)

This week we lost a beloved mother, a treasured sister, and to so many, a dear, cherished friend with the passing of Margaret Iris Landon Rogalsky at the age of 70 years.

Margaret was born in Edmonton, AB on February 2, 1953. She moved to Calgary, AB in 1971. Margaret accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of her time spent with Christensen Diamond Products selling diamond drill bits in the 1980’s and then moved into Insurance later in her work life with Co-operators as an adjuster. Margaret enjoyed playing in Gin tournaments with the Desk and Derrick Club in her earlier years before leaving the oil patch. Margaret for many years was a major part with the Red Hat Group, Gals with flaming Hat’a-tudes and most recently was an active member of the Crown Jewels of Canada Women’s club. Margaret met many many great friends over the years in both of these organizations.

Margaret and her late husband Ed Rogalsky built a custom log home in Dewinton, Alberta in 2006. They lived on the property while they built, and Margaret took care of and fed the many workers that were on site daily. Margaret’s most memorable vacation was when she and her daughter Rhonda went to Las Vegas in 2020 on a Mother Daughter trip and stayed at the famous MGM Grand Hotel on the strip. There they saw Cirque Soleil O at the Bellagio which was Margaret’s highlight of their trip. She would want us to keep being kind to each other and enjoy every single day. The love Margaret left behind for so many of us was her legacy.

Margaret is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Eric Villeneuve of Calgary, AB; and her three sisters, Joann and Rick Fennell of Kelowna, BC, Darlene and Jerry Heickel of Kelowna, BC and Barbara and Randy Zeitner of Kamloops, BC. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Ed Rogalsky and by her brother Ian Landon. 

A Celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at The Lake House, (747 Lake Bonavista Drive SE, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Margaret’s family here.
