Terry was born on April 18, 1944, in Galahad, Alberta. He lived with his family, including his twin brother, Garry, and brother Bob, at the Alliance homestead until 1948, when they moved to Killam, Alberta. His family then moved to Montgomery, what is now Bowness Road, in 1952.

He will be most remembered for his strength, resiliency, tenacity, thoughtfulness, and being a social butterfly who enjoyed talking to anyone.
