Obituary of Patrick Joseph McCabe

Patrick Joseph of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Friday September 22, 2023 at the age of 92 years.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, on April 16, 1931, Pat immigrate to Canada in 1953, and eventually became a journeyman electrician. He settled in Calgary, AB, in 1959, after meeting and marrying the love of his life Julia Agnes (nee Irvine). He loved the Rocky Mountains, going for long walks, and drives in the country around Calgary, AB. He especially enjoyed family gatherings, and meals with his son Kevin and daughter-in-law Mandy, and grandchildren around him, listening to the “craic” with a big smile on his face.

Pat was a member of IBEW for 70 years, the Knights of Columbus for many years, and enjoyed many volunteer activities at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed trips back to Ireland, as well as winter stays in Yuma, AZ. He loved wildlife, nature, and people watching in malls in Calgary, AB.

Pat was predeceased by his wife Julia, son Brian, second wife Pauline, and spouse Agnes. Pat came from a large Irish family and is survived by his oldest sister Rosaleen and younger brother Tom. He is survived by his children Margaret (Dennis), Kevin (Mandy), Tom, and grandchildren, JT, David, Alex (Sara), Delaney (Dan), Brendan (Katherine), Kiera, Emily (Madeleine), Julia, and Justin, as well as great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.   

The family thanks Dr. Bensler and Rosie, Dr. Britt Simmons, and the wonderful staff of Unit 73, Rockyview General Hospital, particularly Marina, Angel, Sarahbeth, Daniel, Jimmy, Lori, Keri, Jolin, Emma, and the palliative care team for their compassionate care.

A Public Visitation will take place on Friday, September 29, 2023 at McInnis and Holloway, Crowfoot (82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), starting at 6:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m.

A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at McInnis and Holloway, Crowfoot (82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB) starting at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church (321 90 Ave SE, Calgary, AB), on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at start time 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed at www.MHFH.com.
