Obituary of Helmut Franz Reisinger

January 31, 1943 – Vienna, Austria

September 30, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Helmut went to be with his Lord and Saviour on September 30, 2023.

Helmut was born in Vienna, Austria and immigrated to Canada with his parents and sister in 1961, at the age of 18. He then went back to Austria several times until he met his wife in 1972 and settled in Calgary.

He enjoyed playing soccer, hiking, and skiing until 2020 when he was no longer able to enjoy those activities due to progressing dementia.

He loved to travel and would often study maps to get an understanding of where he was heading, He also had a great interest in history, he was always interested in other people.

At the age of 14 he apprenticed as a cabinetmaker. After coming to Canada, he worked in several cabinet shops as well as doing private work. He was a very meticulous and careful worker.

Family was very important to Helmut. He would probably say that his greatest achievement was teaching his sons to be honest and conscientious in their work.

Helmut’s faith in God was very important to him.

Helmut is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret; his sons Jason (Tiffany), Steven (Andrea), Philip (Diana) and eight grandchildren; Claudia, Max, Jakob, Kayli, Celeste, Isabella, Savannah, and Augustus, they all brought him much joy.

At his request, no services will be held. He requested that his friends remember him in their own way. He will be cremated, at his request, with a private family gathering afterward.
