Obituary of Bruna Raho

March 12, 1933 - October 1, 2023

Bruna Raho (nee Ribecco) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at the age of 90 years. Bruna was born in Marina di Ginosa, Italy. She emigrated to Canada in 1952.

Family was the most important part of Bruna’s life, and she was unsurpassed at keeping the family close and together, especially with her Sunday dinners. She unconditionally loved all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bruna was predeceased by her husband Antonio Raho. She leaves to mourn her loving sister Rosetta Divella in Italy, Sisters-in-law Anna Raho in Italy, and Angela Ribecco and Antoinetta Ribecco of Calgary; her three beloved sons, Claudio (Rosa), Walter, and Luciano (Frances); as well as eight grandchildren, Jason, Anthony, Christina, Antonio, Michael, Nicole, Amanda, Adrianna and many great-grandchildren.

Bruna was an exceptional cook. Everyone loved her pasta dishes and her famous cookies that no one could seem to replicate. She also enjoyed gardening, and she had quite the green thumb. 

The loss of Bruna leaves a void that cannot be filled, and she will be dearly missed. Bruna’s lasting influence will be felt through her love for her family, her inner strength, her strong character and her sense of honor. She was truly an inspirational force for all those who knew and loved her.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday, October 6,  at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 404 Northmount Pl NW, Calgary, AB. Graveside Service to follow at Queens Park Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Church Hall.
