Ajit Kaur Rai of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 at the age of 97 years. Ajit Kaur Rai was born in Barari, Punjab India, on January 9, 1926 and moved to Calgary, AB, in 1980.

Ajit Kaur Rai married Harjit Singh Rai in 1944.

Ajit Kaur Rai, is survived by her son Pritam Singh Rai and daughter-in-law Sharnjit Kaur Rai, son Suritam Singh Rai, daughter Suritam Kaur Sidhu and son-in-law Narinderpal Singh Sidhu, son-in-law Kulwant Singh Sekhon; sister Dalip Kaur; grandson Hardeep Singh Rai and granddaughter-in-law Brandi Nicole Rai, grandson Jasjeet Singh Rai and granddaughter-in-law Mona Rai, granddaughter Amrit Kaur Nannan and grandson-in-law Mikkel Singh Nannan, granddaughter Avneet Kaur Sidhu, granddaughter Armaani Kaur Sidhu, grandson  Maher Singh Sidhu, grandson Amarjot Singh Rai, granddaughter Dilpreet Kaur Rai, grandson Navdeep Singh Sekhon, granddaughter-in-law Amandeep Kaur Sekhon, granddaughter Jagdeep Kaur Sekhon; great-grandchildren: Eli Chase Rai, Symrin Kaur Rai, Darshan Singh Rai, Eva Grace Rai, Arjun Kaur Rai, Sanya Rai, Maya Kaur Sekhon, Jay Singh Sekhon, Owen Singh Sekhon, Harjeevan Kaur Nannan, Himmat Singh Nannan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ajit Kaur Rai was predeceased by her spouse Harjit Singh Rai, daughter Pitam Kaur Sekhon, and grandson Gurvir Singh Sidhu.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Calgary Crematorium, 3219 – 4th Street NW, Calgary, AB, within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Ajit’s family here.
