Russell Stanley Matthew Flynn of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the age of 74 years.

Russ was born in Prince George, BC, on September 20, 1949.

He spent his childhood years on the farm in Moosomin, SK, and later went to high school in Penticton, BC.

He graduated from the Full Gospel Bible Institute in Eston, SK where he met and fell in love with a beautiful girl from Swift Current, her name was Ellen (nee Berglind).

Russ married Ellen in 1971 and they chose Calgary as the place to build their life together. Ten years later they welcomed their daughter Shauna into their family.

Russ did many things throughout his life and was particularly proud of when he became a Real Estate agent. He was outgoing and enjoyed talking to people which also led him to be actively involved in the church.

He loved working with his hands and excelled at building things as a carpenter. Later in life, he shared his knowledge and expertise through his career at Home Depot where his favorite position was working at the Contractor Desk.

Russ was known for his sense of humor and couldn’t resist a little prank now and then. Although he worked hard, he was a dreamer and storyteller at heart.

He loved spending time with family and friends, watching Western movies, writing poetry, and could often be found jotting down his hopes and plans for the future.

He was passionate about history and was proud of his heritage. One of his favorite interests was WWII history and he felt honored to have had uncles that served.

Russ is survived by his daughter Shauna and his four brothers; Mike, Pat, Marvin (Grace), and Kerry; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Russ was predeceased by his beloved wife Ellen and his parents Norman and Geraldine.
