Obituary of Bill Lemieux

August 16, 1957 – Toronto, Ontario
October 6, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of William “Bill” Joseph Lemieux, spouse of Leanne Suitor, of Calgary, AB, on Friday October 6, 2023 at the young age of 66 from Interstitial Lung Disease. To honour Bill’s zest for life, we encourage you to dress in your brightest colours or golf-wear for the service.

Bill was born and raised in Ontario before moving to Alberta as a highly-educated young man, with a BA, MSc, and MBA, as well as countless designations and accreditations. Bill went on to have a long and successful career in finance where his intelligence, humour, and charisma was cherished.

Bill was a vibrant, kind, and extroverted soul who valued connection and service to others. Bill loved to volunteer and spent many hours supporting various churches and Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), where he rescued his three beloved dogs Asia, Hayley, and Trixie.

In the 2000s, Bill was instrumental in organizing and executing a wildly successful singles group, where he found his sweetheart, Leanne. Since 2002, Leanne and Bill have built a beautiful life based on love, laughter, and dancing. Bill will be forever missed by his bonus daughters Lauren (Paul) and Lindie Last, who gave Bill his favourite title of all: Dad. 

In his hard-earned retirement, Bill and Leanne spent time in their home in Arizona where Bill mastered his golf game, wood working/carpentry, meticulous research of every purchase, and drinking a nice red wine. 

Many fond memories will be forever cherished by family and friends including his brothers Paul and Peter (Susan), niece Gillian, and nephews Ian (Laura) and Eric (Marie). Bill was predeceased by his sister Denise, mother Joan, father John, beloved Nanny, and all his aunts and uncles from the Ryan/Lemieux clan. 

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SW, Calgary, AB) on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Bill’s family here.
