Obituary of Graham Charles Hoard

Graham Charles Hoard of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023 at the age of 80 years. Born December 23, 1942, to Charles and Hazel in Bancroft Ontario. He was raised in Coe Hill at the Ridge, until he went to Queens University and graduated as a CGA from University of British Columbia and served 30 years in the public service.

Graham is survived by his wife Joan, sister Carol, daughter Anne-Louise and her loving husband Jim, son David, grandchildren Chris and Sarah, and his number one cat friend Bella.

Graham built a family, a world, a home, and will be remembered lovingly. To anyone who knew him he could be a very silly boy, and would have a story for everyone. He could talk for hours about silly things he did in school, or things that he loved like golf, watching sports, classic cars, Swiss Chalet, or his family. He had a ravenous appetite for reading and always had a good stack of books, a newspaper, and Sudoku for variety.

When it came to a round of golf, very little could keep him away from a chance at spending time with friends. First and foremost, he loved celebrating food, family, and support, with his wife Joan during their 56 years of marriage.

He always took care of the people he loved. He is still with us in so many important ways, with the kindness and influence he had on others. We would thank you to celebrate his life with us, to tell his stories, and hold his friendship as close to your heart, as he would hold his favourite cat.

A Gathering will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences, memories and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
