Obituary of Daisy Hirang Simpson

November 29, 1938 – Mauban, Quezon, Philippines

October 9, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Our beloved, Daisy “Lola” Simpson, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, October 9, 2023.

Daisy was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Bob, in 2014. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Linda Herrera and Mitzi Lasola; her daughter Inez, son Craig, daughter-in-law Anne, grandchildren Cooper and Cleo, grandson Nash (Jamie Baker), nieces, nephews, and cousins in the United States and the Philippines, as well as extended family Ken and Isabel Fernie, and dear friends.

After graduating from the Southern Islands Hospital School of Nursing in 1959, Daisy began her career in the United States and later relocated with her family to Calgary. She was part of the tremendous Orthopaedic Nursing team in Unit 72 at Foothills Medical Centre where she forged lifelong friendships. She retired in 2006 after 24 years of service.

Daisy’s family and friends meant the world to her, and she was adored by many. She was an avid NFL enthusiast, she had superb taste in hats, and she had a style and elegance like no other.

Daisy’s family will be forever grateful for the outstanding level of care and compassion shown by Unit 57 staff at Rockyview General Hospital. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Luke’s Church, (1566 Northmount Drive NW, Calgary, AB), on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Simpson’s service streamed live on the day of the service at www.MHFH.com. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Internment of ashes will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Daisy’s memory directly to the Alberta Lung Association. Condolences, memories, and photos may also be shared and viewed there.

In living memory of Daisy Simpson, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB T3G 2T3, Telephone: 403-241-0044.
