Obituary of Edward Bromwell Stuart Taylor

June 16, 1932 - Verdon, Quebec

October 7, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Edward Taylor of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the age of 91 years surrounded by his loving family.

Ed is survived by his son David Taylor, many nieces and nephews as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley Taylor (nee Steele), his parents Charles and Doris, brother Fred (Janine), and three sisters, Doris (Jean-Jacques), Irene (Sonny), and Evelyn (Alex).

Edward married Shirley in Verdun, QC, in February of 1966 and moved to Calgary in 1975 where Ed worked at and then retired from Canada Safeway after 22 years.  He built many great lasting friendships with colleagues and coworkers, meeting regularly for many years after his retirement.

Edward loved life and especially enjoyed spending his time with his best friend and furry companion Rhet. During his daily walks with Rhet, he met his friends Alf and Anne Payten, and Mark and Laurie Payten, becoming very close over the years.  Their friendships all started with walking dogs and enjoying each others company. He loved being with his family, listening to his musically talented son David play piano. He enjoyed celebrating special moments and sharing stories of his childhood growing up in Montreal. 

Edward’s most memorable times were anywhere his family was, especially spending every summer at the cottage in Buckingham, QC, where he enjoyed fishing, driving the pontoon and watching his many nieces and nephews and their kids spend time being dragged behind various speed boats and jet skis.

He will be most remembered for the love he had for his family, his easy-going nature, generosity, and kindness and for being everyone’s Uncle Eddie (related or not).
