Obituary of Marilyn Rose McNeilly

Marilyn McNeilly of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the age of 80 years.

Marilyn was born in Montreal, Quebec on December 14, 1942. She moved to Calgary, AB in 2003.

Marilyn graduated from the Grant MacEwan College with a diploma in Social Work. She was a soldier with the Salvation Army and volunteered with many organizations, including The Airdrie Lioness Christmas Hampers.

Marilyn loved life, her family, and friends deeply right up until the end. She enjoyed her last years living at Atria Arbour Lake Retirement Home, where she was proud to be an ambassador and lead the choir and Hymn Sing. She was admitted to Foothills Hospital with trouble breathing on Sunday, October 8, and died peacefully in her sleep on October 12. She will be most remembered for her generosity and service toward others.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Lesley Evans (Michael Cantwell) of Calgary, AB, David Evans (Rhonda) of Cedarville, OH, and Richard Evans (Kim) of Drayton Valley, AB; seven granddaughters, Therese Munchrath of Kelowna, BC, Nathalie Munchrath of Calgary, AB, Hannah Munchrath of Brandon, MB, Savannah Evans, Joscelyn Evans, and Chardonnay Evans of Cedarville, OH, and Madison Evans of Drayton Valley, AB; and great-grandson Mason Sejberg of Calgary, AB.

Marilyn is also survived by her two sisters, Dorothy Girling of Kitchener, ON, and Miriam Mansell (Trent) of Caledon, ON; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Major David McNeilly and Mabel Karpuik; her sister Patricia Hilliard, and her brother David Richard McNeilly.

Funeral Services will be held at the Salvation Army Berkshire Citadel Community Church (222 Sandarac Dr NW, Calgary, AB T3K 3N2) on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Marilyn’s service streamed live on the day of the service at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83425334458?pwd=SXRkM3dFeC9YRW9ReTJVZDQ5Zi9RUT09.
