Obituary of Larry Melvin Dand

June 18, 1953 - October 14, 2023

Larry passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023 in Calgary after a long and courageous battle with heart disease.

He leaves to mourn him, his partner Lynda Hay, his son Stephen Dand (Robin), and two grandsons, August and Milo. Larry also leaves behind his mother, Margaret Dand; brother Rodney (Carol); sisters, Lynne (Smiley) and Gayle (Stephen); and many other family members and friends. Larry was predeceased by his father Les Dand and brother Jim Dand.

Larry worked at The Calgary Herald as an advertising rep for over 45 years…his work years "were the best part of his life" he would say. Larry retired 10 years ago and enjoyed going down to Palm Desert in the winter, golfing with Lynda, his son and grandsons' and "the boys" on Tuesday afternoon. He recently developed a hobby of painting ceramics; he loved to spend time in his studio!!

A Celebration of Larry's Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
