Condolences
We got to know Glenn through Margaret as we shared her mutual passion for clay. We have fond memories of the dinner parties and events hosted at their house. Glenn was indeed a gentle person, quiet spoken, and full of humor.
Our condolences to the whole family. Thank you for sharing your wonderful parents.
Until I read the obituary, I had no idea of Glenn's many accomplishments. I knew Glenn from Living Spirit United, the small, but mighty (for a while) successor to Riverview United Chuch. Although many didn't, Glenn hung in with us and we appreciated his constancy and wise counsel. He was a remarkable man whose mentorship will be remembered by many.
On behalf of the Calgary Petroleum Club, I share our heartfelt condolences to the entire family. The CPC was so proud to have honoured Mr. Sundrstrom with his Honorary Membership this past May.
Your family is in our thoughts and prayers,
Toni-Marie Ion-Brown

I am sorry to hear of your Dads passing. What a blessing that your father (and your dear mother) lived such a full life. I was a good friend of Kathi’s all through school and would sometimes be at the Sundstrom home hanging out after school. I still have a piece of Margaret’s pottery that was a wedding gift from Kathi and her parents. After our first daughter was born in 1987, Glenn and Margaret offered their little mountain chalet (in Harvey Heights I believe) so our new little family had their first “away time”together! We never forgot that generosity!
Our first real shop was in the old Smithbuilt Hat building right down town. (We upgraded from a chicken shack a couple of blocks away, no joke.) Glenn would frequently stop by Solid Woodwork for a visit One day he came in and calmly announced that he was retiring because he was tired of all the "BS". I don't remember him elaborating, he just made his statement and moved on. I was very impressed, I think it showed a lot about the character behind his mild manner. My other great memory of him was when we moved from our second shop to our third and final one just a block away. Glenn arrived and with a broad smile, quickly installed himself on the seat of the forklift where he spent a very fun day moving all of the heavy stuff without breaking a sweat. I am fortunate to have gotten to spend a fair amount of time with both of Eric's parents while we were partners in Solid Woodwork. They were very kind and generous to me and were both great role models.
