Obituary of Karman Lefthand

October 13, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

 

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved sister, mother, aunt, niece, adoptive daughter, and best friend to DerRic Starlight. Karleen Karman Hersel Lefthand was born on June 7, 1983 and was called home by our Creator on Friday, October 13, 2023 at the age of 40. 

 

Karman will be deeply missed by her beloved children, Isaac (Shay Pipestem), Nevaeh, Malcom and Makayla, and adoptive son Klayson Fox; special nieces, Taelynn, Elssa, Gigi; special nephews Dennis (Titanna) Powderface, Lorenzo Lefthand and Jason Rider to whom she thought the world of; nieces, Ashley, Michelle (Keiven) Celine, Paige and Ariin (Trey); special grandchildren, Uriah, Ezikle Fontain, Aquilla, Faith and Jordan. She leaves behind her sisters, Fiona Lefthand, Ronalda Twoyoungmen and brother Greg Lefthand; adoptive parents, Diane Dixon and Myron Baptist, Darcy and Kathy Dixon. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Retha Lefthand, Cecilia Lefthand and Allie (Roxanne) Lefthand, Rhonda Bearpaw, Jerry Bearspaw; loving cousins; Mary Crawler, Corrie Lynn (Lane) Lefthand, Cody Lefthand, Katie Lefthand, Kenton Lefthand, Colton Lefthand, Sharon (Devon) Poucette, Laurel Leigh (Rob) Houle, Lefthand, Justin Lefthand, Keisha Lefthand Warren Lefthand, Lance Lefthand, Kamille (Lacille) Lefthand, Presley Lefthand, Alexis Lefthand, Toby Dixon, Christie Dixon, Terrilynn Dixon, Sylvester Dixon, Logan Dixon, Elizabeth Dixon, Tanya Rider, Ryan Rider, Natalie Rider, Penny (Clifford) Rider and Chyanne Rider, Ross jr. She is also leaves behind numerous extended aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and grandchildren to mourn her passing.

 

In her youth, Karman attended Longview Elementary School, briefly attended Oilfields High School, then went on to finish her Education at the Chief Jacob Bearspaw School. Karman was an avid volleyball player and enjoyed the game of baseball, competing in various recreational leagues. She was also very passionate about WWE and was considered to be their biggest fan. During the NHL Season's she never missed a game played by the Toronto Maple Leafs as that was her favorite team. She was a very strong and resilient woman with a heart of gold, she was very outspoken and free-spirited. 

 

Karman was predeceased by her maternal-grandparents, Dorothy and Webster Lefthand; paternal-grandparents, Niel Dixon and Eunice Lefthand; parents, Gloria Bearspaw and Homer Lefthand; son Dimitri Lefthand, aunts, Grace Rider, Barbara Daniels, Rosemary Rider, Rita Dixon, Verda, Loretta, and Corina; uncles, Casey, Homer, Terry, Ralph Lefthand, and Gilbert Lefthand; as well as cousins, Loretta Rider, Eilenor Rider and Jason Rider, Dusty Dixon and Karleen Lefthand.

 

Wake Services will be held at the residence Retha Lefthand's (Eden Valley, AB) on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

 

Funeral Services will be held at Annex Building - Chief Jacob Bearspaw School (Foothills No 31, Eden Valley, AB) on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.  Graveside Service to follow at Eden Valley 216 Cemetery. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
