Obituary of Helene Charlotte Henrickson

Helene Charlotte Henrickson (nee Lund), after fighting the brave battle of Alzheimer’s, passed away peacefully at Rocky View General Hospital in Calgary Alberta on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at the age of 83 years.

Helene courageously battled Alzheimer’s Disease for several years before contracting and succumbing to a viral infection. Helene leaves behind: son Lorne (Connie) Henrickson; daughter Loreen Henrickson Ormon; grandchildren Stephanie (Derek) Chez, Cassidy (Ismahan) Henrickson, Ashley (Brandon) Cecchini, Chantal Ormon and Colton Ormon; and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Marvin, parents Charles and Gertrude Lund, sister Leona Dilse and numerous aunts and uncles.

Helene was born in Arrowwood, Alberta on March 16, 1940. She married the love of her life, Marvin Henrickson on July 16, 1960. Helene taught school full-time in Mossleigh and Lomond as ‘Miss. Lund’ and then as ‘Mrs. Henrickson’ until son Lorne was born. She then continued as a substitute teacher for several more years.

She and Marvin farmed outside of Lomond Alberta most of their married life, eventually splitting their time between their homes on the farm and Lethbridge, which they purchased in 2002. They sold their cattle in 2008 and retired full-time to Lethbridge in the spring of 2014. After Marvin's passing in 2021, Helene resided at St. Michael's Health Centre in Lethbridge before moving to MacKenzie Towne Revera Retirement Living in Calgary, to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

A public service will be held on October 28, 2023, at Vulcan United Church in Vulcan, Alberta at 2 p.m. The family welcomes those who wish to attend. After the service, all are invited to stay for refreshments, sweets, and a visit in the church basement.
