Obituary of Jean Louise Prunkl

February 28, 1927 -October 16, 2023

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Our Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother (GG). She passed away peacefully with her family at her side in the early evening of Monday, October 16, 2023, at the age of 96.

Jean was born in Calgary, Alberta, and enjoyed life to the fullest. Her spark, fire, and feistiness had everyone who knew her wanting to get that much closer so that some of that energy would rub off on them. She was an avid camper, reader, and game player. She was passionate about life and enjoyed spending time with her extremely noisy, rambunctious and fun-loving family which Jean enjoyed right to the end.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband George Albert Prunkl and was a devoted mother to her son Bob Prunkl (Linda) and her daughters Karen Barefoot, Jackie Edgecombe (Bill), and Nancy Tinney (Tom). She was a loving grandmother to her 10 grandchildren Jason, Donna, Debbie, Kimberley, Jennifer, Christina, Patricia, Sarah, Melissa, and Sean, and was proud to have 19 great-grandchildren.

In honor of Jean, a reception/dance party will be held on October 28, 2023, from 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM at the Rosemont Community Centre, 2807 – 10 Street NW, Calgary. There will be a cold buffet and some beverages. Please feel free to bring your beverage of choice. Anyone who wishes to share thoughts about Jean is welcome to do so from 5:30 – 6:00 PM. Dancing will be expected as well as having so much fun you will never forget the experience, which is just the way Jean would want it.
