Obituary of Sven Lennart Lundqvist

Sven Lennart Lundqvist, beloved husband of Julieta Lundqvist (nee Fremista), of Airdrie, AB, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the age of 70 years.

Sven was born in Rattvik, Sweden on December 3, 1952. He grew up on a dairy farm in central Sweden. He immigrated to Canada in 1985 and moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where he lived for 36 years.

Sven married Julieta Lundqvist (nee Fremista) in 1984. He was a member of the 55+ bowling league in Airdrie, and Magdaragat Philippines Inc. in Winnipeg. 

Sven loved animals, he tended to many pets during his life and will be missed by his beloved cat, Irony.

Sven’s most memorable vacation was when he took a trip across North America and took Highway 66 from Chicago to L.A., eventually landing in Winnipeg in search of "The center of North America", where he ended up meeting his future wife.

He will be most remembered for being everyone's crazy Swedish Uncle, who was right all along about the aliens.

Besides his loving wife, Sven is survived by his two daughters and son-in-law, Michelle Lundqvist, Vallejo, California; Erika Dietrichson and Jens Dietrichson, Malmo, Sweden; and his one grandchild, Nora, Malmo, Sweden.

Sven is also survived by his two sisters, Inga-lil Lundqvist, Inger Lundqvist (Sweden); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sven was predeceased by his father Oskar, and mother Nanny.
