I always knew her as Rick’s Mom. We knew her when we lived together as neighbors in Coaldale. We kept in contact after the family moved to Calgary. She definitely had her own opinion on things and had a great sense of humour. I remember when I visited Rick she insisted on bringing us sandwiches and milk for our evening snack. Overall a special lady who will be missed.

The mother of a hero is now reunited with her son, Constable Richard.

Dear Lisa and Family, Maria was a feisty woman with a generous heart, always wanting to share what she had with other residents. Her humour was enjoyed by staff and residents at her dining table. I always was amazed at her “never give up” attitude. Many blessings to her loved ones.

Maria will be missed! Loved our visits over the years and my heart breaks for you, Lisa, Jim and family. I know past years have had laughs, tears and sad moments, but, I feel we have to go through all these moments in aging so that we can let go and hang on to the cherished memories Maria gave to all. A wonderful mom who loved family, friends, furry beings and life!

Maria you touched the hearts of so many and certainly mine from the moment we met at your home after Rick was taken from you. Please know you are loved and will always be loved and lovingly remembered. Our condolences to all the Sonnenberg family.

My Condolences to the families

My heartfelt condolences to Lisa and the rest of the family. Maria will always stay in my heart as a mom, grandmother, and most especially as a friend. I truly enjoyed our chats during care in Inverness, and the light in her eyes whenever I bring burger and onion rings for her. Will miss your laughs and the motherly advices you gave me. Rest in peace.
