Obituary of Harry James Webber

April 8, 1929 - October 25, 2023

A native Calgarian, Harry was born into a respected hardware family and attended Elbow Park, Rideau Park, and the old Central High Schools. He graduated in engineering at the University of Alberta and spent most of his career in Alberta’s energy sector. Harry enjoyed sports in his school years and later hiking and cross-country skiing with family, friends, and outdoor clubs.

Harry had a very successful career with Alberta’s Energy Resources Conservation Board, retiring in the late 1980s. Following retirement, Harry enjoyed woodworking and maintaining his home and yard.

Harry was predeceased in 1988 by his loving wife Pat (nee Warren), his parents, Frank and Kate Webber, and by his siblings, George, Grace, and Don. He is survived by his partner of many years, Joyce Small (Elliott). Harry is also survived by his children, Melya (John) Long, Dave (Heather), Webber, Ruth (Ken) Ziegler and Carol (Hal) Curties; twelve grandchildren whom he has encouraged and adored from cradle to careers, Arlo, Becky, Thomas, Katie, Erika, Alisa, Cayley, Ryan and Geoff, Ben, Hana and Scott and their partners; as well as eleven great-grandchildren. Harry will also be remembered by many other members of the Webber, Warren, and Elliott families.

At Harry’s request, there will be no funeral service. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Harry’s family here.

Harry passed away at the Foothills Hospital following a brief illness.  The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to the compassionate and attentive staff of Unit 36, as well as Unit 47 at the Rockyview Hospital.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Calgary Health Foundation or Operation Eyesight.
