Hope Alston

Obituary of Hope Woolley Alston

It is with sadness Hope’s family announces her passing on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the age of 97.

Hope was a private secretary in the Oil & Gas Industry and loved teaching young children English as a second language.  She also took great pride as a Crisis Line Volunteer.

Hope loved to read, especially non-fiction regarding history and religion and would enjoy a good debate.  In her fifties, she took up hiking and convinced many of her friends to join her.  She was well-known for her famous homemade caramels, which were given as Christmas gifts. She was proud to be Calgarian and enjoyed taking family and friends to the Stampede Parade.

She is survived by her brother Tyler (Gloria) and countless nieces and nephews.

Hope was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Norma Alston, sister Beulah (Jay) Holst, brothers Cal (Doreen) and Doug (Janet).

A heartfelt thank you to the staff at AgeCare Midnapore where Hope resided for the last two years.

Honouring her request, a gathering of family will be held to celebrate her life at a later date.
