Obituary of Helen "Mae" Sprague

Helen “Mae” Sprague (nee Erickson) beloved wife of the late James Clyde Sprague, of Airdrie, AB, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the age of 89 years.

Mae was born in Stettler, AB, on May 8, 1934, with two sisters and one brother. Mae met and married Jim in 1952 in Stettler. They were blessed with two children, Joanne in 1954 and Doug in 1959.

Mae studied Interior Design at Iowa State University. Mae and Jim returned to Edmonton in 1967 where Mae had a successful career as an interior designer and worked for many years with Grundeau’s Furniture. Mae and Jim traveled the world both on their own and with good friends. Mae’s favorite things were cooking, gardening, traveling, and entertaining. Most important to her was time spent with friends and especially her family.

Mae is survived by her son Doug (Bev), grandchildren Dani (Grant) and Brad (Ashley); and great-grandchildren, Olive and Oaklee. Mae was predeceased by her parents, siblings, and her daughter Joanne. Mae would have been proud of the third great-grandchild expected before Christmas this year.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Airdrie, 300 Towerlane Drive) on Friday, November 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
