Obituary of Ivan Mardjetko

October 26, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta
Ivan Mardjetko, beloved husband of Marija Mardjetko (Matotek), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, October, 26, 2023, at the age of 72 years.
Ivan was born in Kotoriba, Croatia on February 22, 1951, and was the youngest of five. He moved to Calgary, AB in 1974, and has lived in Calgary with his beloved family ever since.
Ivan married Marija in 1974 and has been dutifully by her side ever since. Together they built a beautiful life and a home filled with love. Ivan accomplished much throughout his life and was most proud of his two sons.
Ivan had a passion for soccer and loved cheering on his beloved team Croatia. He loved classical music and listening to the Three Tenors at Christmas was one of his favorite traditions. He loved to travel and enjoyed experiencing the culture, scenery, and tastes of all the places he visited.
Besides his loving wife, Ivan is survived by his two sons, Robert and Andrew; Ivan is also survived by his sister Milica, five sisters-in-laws, Amalia, Stefica, Emilia, Katarina, Ana, and one brother-in-law Josip; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in Canada, Australia, Serbia, and Croatia.
Ivan was predeceased by his parents, Marija and Jeronim, his brothers, Franjo and Josip, and his sister Alojzija.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers, Tributes, and a Viewing at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. (prayers starting at 7:00 p.m.).
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Chapel of the Bells.
In living memory of Ivan Mardjetko, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
