Obituary of Patrick David Dobbelsteyn
February 20, 1950 – Fredericton, New Brunswick
October 28, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patrick D. Dobbelsteyn on October 28, 2023, in Calgary, AB.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Penny and his daughter Kacey, her husband Paul and twin grandchildren, Cohen, and Skylar.
Also survived by siblings Harold (Miriam), Joanne, Kathy, Kevin (Glenna), Peter (Carol), David (Cindy) and Loretta, along with numerous nieces and nephews across Canada.
Born and raised in Fredericton, NB; Patrick was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Margaret (Hay) Dobbelsteyn. After graduating from St Thomas University Patrick was employed by the province of NB as a social worker until he left to pursue his entrepreneurial skills. In what little spare time he had, he loved to canoe and fish on the Miramichi River.
After dedicating over 20 years to the family business, Patrick moved out west to pursue a new adventure, sure to be missed by many. One of his favorite things to do was get in the car and just drive, seeing where the road would take him. This got him lost a time or two! Patrick enjoyed many family road trips all over the US and Canada until his battle with Alzheimer’s began and slowly started to take him away from his family. Near the end Patrick enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play. There was always a big hug for Grampy at the end of a visit.
There will be no visitation or service as per Patrick’s wishes.
In living memory of Patrick Dobbelsteyn, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB T2Z 4E6, Telephone: 403-203-0525.
