Matthew Arntzen

Obituary of Matthew Brady Arntzen

November 13, 2006 - Calgary, Alberta

October 27, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Matthew Arntzen of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023, at the age of 16 years.

Matt was born and resided his entire life in Calgary, Alberta. He was a member of the Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation band of Ontario.

Matt loved camping, working with his hands, reading, playing video games, creating art, and hanging out with his friends.  His proudest moments came while working on his recovery at the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Center where he rediscovered life’s joys and became the truest version of himself.

Matt will be most remembered for his charming in-your-face, often dark sense of humour and his endearing way of being both wise beyond his years and childish at the same time. He was insightful, highly intelligent, loyal, deeply loving and compassionate, and respected and loved by his peers.

Matt is survived by his two brothers, Braeden and Bruce; his four sisters, Claudia, Jada, Angel and Cashlynn; his brother-in-law, Teagan, his nephew, Calvin, his parents, Steven and Jamie; his birth mother, Joanna, his grandparents, Cameron and Peggy; and his uncle Nathan. Matt was predeceased by his father, Justin.
