October 31, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta
Edmond Chan of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at the age of 72 years.
Although Ed was faced with many health challenges, his positivity never wavered. He provided joy to all who interacted with him. Ed was born in Hong Kong and graduated from Pui Ying Middle School. He met his wife Bonnie when they were both working in the same restaurant in Hong Kong. Together they started a new life in Canada, where they raised their loving family and successfully ran their own business.
He was a hardworking man, passionate chef, nature lover, gardener, photographer, and movie lover, who enjoyed spending time with his family. His hobbies include reading, Chinese poetry, calligraphy, road trips, and swimming. One of his most memorable trips was his honeymoon with Bonnie where they went to Japan. Ed will be most remembered for his kindness, strength, perseverance, work ethic, wisdom, and his famous beef brisket.
Ed is survived by his wife Bonnie, son Gary, daughters Karen and Carmen; five brothers Raymond, Eric, Jackson, Eddie, and Sam; two sisters Jenny and Flora; and two cats, Tofu and George. Ed’s love for his family was immense, and he always shared how proud he was of his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Chan Wai To and Yuen Shou Ying.
