Obituary of Mavis CROWCHILD

December 12, 1949 – Siksika Nation, Alberta June 22, 2018 – Tsuut’ina Nation, Alberta Mavis beloved wife of Alex Crowchild of Tsuut’ina Nation passed away on June 22, 2018 at the age of 68 years. Besides her loving husband Alex and great granddaughter Latasha, Mavis is survived by her children Rodney Armstrong, Jason Welte, Russel Running Bird, Keith Running Bird, Keisha Prairie Chicken, Jeanine Crier, Cyrus Crier, Dayvall Kakakaway, Valerie (Don) McDougall, Cameron (Yolanda) Crowchild, Herb Crowchild, Tim (Gladys) Crowchild, Chris Crowchild, Michelle (Dave) Crowchild; her siblings Rose Running Bird, Melvin Running Bird, Darlene(Cody) Munro, Karen Yellow Old Woman, Adrian(Georgia) Yellow Old Woman, Fabian(Sherry-Lynn) Yellow Old Woman, Trent Three Eagles, Joe(Shannon) Yellow Old Woman, Marcia(Allen) Routh, John ( Marie) Yellow Old Woman; Liza Yellow Old Woman; her step-mother Rachel Ermineskin; In-laws Charles (Josephine)Crowchild, Neil (Patricia) Crowchild, Patrick Crowchild, Frances (Helmut) Jensen, Sherri Crowchild, Pricilla Crowchild, and Audrey Pipestem, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand-children and great-great grandchildren. Mavis comes from a very large extended family. We apologize if we have missed anyone. Mavis was predeceased by her mother Mary Running Bird; children Rhonda Running Bird, Kevin Running Bird; her father John Yellow Old Woman Sr.; her brother Kirby Yellow Old Woman; niece Lorna One Spot; grandparents Clara and Dominic Yellow Old Woman and first husband Walter Shingoose. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at the residence of Alex Crowchild on Sunday June 24, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. with traditional feast to follow. There will be a second wake held at Sister Celine Parish Hall in Siksika Nation on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 6:00 PM Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Siksika Nation on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at the Crowfoot Cemetery in Siksika Nation with a feast to follow at the Sister Celine Parish Hall.
