Obituary of Pauline Paisley

March 3, 1922 – Tide Lake, Alberta

November 5, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Pauline Paisley (nee Stadnicki), beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother (GG) passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at the age of 101 years.

Pauline was born at Tide Lake, Alberta on March 3, 1922. She lived with her parents and nine siblings on the family farm near Jenner. She moved with her sisters to Calgary as a young woman to start a career. She soon met Norman. They were married in 1950 and lived their life in Calgary.

Pauline lived well and enjoyed her life to the fullest as an independent and active person. She was interested in and stayed abreast of the activities of her family. She loved listening to our stories and laughing at our jokes. She contributed to every potluck event including the most recent one this past Thanksgiving. She was the cookie and pierogi maker extraordinaire. She loved to play games and was a regular member of two crib clubs. She stayed in touch with good friends and enjoyed many seasonal lunches and celebrations.

Pauline, pictured here on that day, was thrilled to celebrate her 100th birthday last year with her family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed her first ever limo ride to the venue. She was a private and humble person who never liked to be the centre of attention, but she appreciated the many toasts and tributes that were offered on that day. She was careful to express her gratitude for all she received and was an example to all of kindness, acceptance, and grace.

Pauline leaves to mourn her four daughters, Debbie (Gord Schnell), Penny (Jim Winnick), Judy, Andi (Darrell McTavish) and her son Gregg (Tara), all of Calgary. She also leaves five beloved grandchildren, Jen (Darcy Schack) of New Zealand, Chris Brockway (Carley) of Surrey, BC, Sara Kucher (Nathan Read) of Victoria, Tory Winnick of Calgary, and Shane Rempel of Calgary; her great-grandchildren David, Mathew, and Simon of Australia /New Zealand, Caira, Cage, and Chayce of Surrey, Michael, Hanna, and Roland of Victoria. She is also survived by many dear friends, Rob Rempel, Jan Boydol and Brian Cumming; and extended family including her brother-in-law Ted Kovacs. Pauline was predeceased by her husband Norman, her much loved grandson Dan, her dear sister Lenore, and all of her siblings.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at FHH Unit 42 and to the wonderful team at Agape Hospice for their care and compassion for both Mom and the family.  We also would like to thank all of those who sent prayers and blessings for our wonderful Mom.

As per Pauline’s wishes a private service will be held. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
