The life story of Mrs. Sum Yen Yuan
Ms. Yuet Ho Lee was born in Dongguan, Guangdong on September 25, 1934. She grew up in a poor rural area. At a very young age, she managed household chores and cared for both the old as well as young. That is indeed commendable.
In 1958, Ms. Lee came to Hong Kong and stayed with relatives. While working for Nanyang Cotton Mill, she met Mr. Sum Yen Yuan who worked in a bookstore. The two got married in 1963 and gave birth to one son, Samson, and three daughters, Aileen, Daisy, and Connie.
In 1994, the Yuans came to Canada as immigrants and settled down in Calgary where they came across the Gospels. Daisy, as well as brothers and sisters in Christ, brought the Bible and salvation to their attention. For a very, very long time she remained aloof. She was later traumatised by an accident. After praying to God for peace upon the encouragement of her children and their spouses, she all of a sudden had an epiphany and decided to follow Christ. She was baptised in 2015 and became a child of God.
In 2016, the Yuans moved into Cloving Living 頤景樓 in downtown Calgary to enjoy their golden years. She fell twice and suffered injuries in 2017. In the following year, she was admitted to Wing Kei Care Centre as a result of brain degeneration. During the 2020 epidemic, her conditions took a turn for the worse. She could not even recognize her husband and during family visits, all she could do was to smile or nod.
Late last month Mrs. Yuan’s conditions deteriorated further, and she passed away peacefully on November 5. The Yuan family would like to take this opportunity to express their heartfelt thanks to the Wing Kei team for taking good care of Mrs. Yuan, enabling her to spend her final years in a safe and pleasant environment.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Yuan was hard-working, sincere, and thrifty. She was caring, loving, and looked after her husband and children well. Now that she has left this earthly world, she will be missed sorely by her family, relatives, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ. She now lives in the house of the Lord, where we will see her again in future.
