Obituary of Audrey Lavina Armitage (nee Romaniuk)
December 17, 1931 - Lamont, Alberta
November 7, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta
Audrey Lavina Armitage (nee Romaniuk) beloved wife of Henry Armitage, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at the age of 91 years.
Audrey’s loving husband and partner of sixty-seven years, Hank, predeceased her. Her life is celebrated by her daughters, Brenda (Michael Casey), Colleen (Dana Ball), Diana and grandson Cole Nichols, and son, Robert. Audrey was born in Lamont, Alberta and as a young woman she was swept off her feet by Hank, who adored her. Dedicating her life to family, she filled the home with unconditional love, and children quickly followed. Hank and Audrey raised with pride and joy their offspring in Calgary. When their children spread their wings, Hank and Audrey visited their children wherever in the world they might be.
Audrey’s Catholic faith was very important to her, and she was active in the Catholic Women’s League at St Michael’s Church. Baking was a special talent, and she was known for “the best chocolate cake”. A birthday had only been celebrated properly if Audrey’s chocolate cake was served. Patience and persistence were required for her creative interests where she produced beautiful paper tole pictures and painted slip cast ceramics. She was a voracious reader and loved to curl up on the couch with a good book.
Waiting to welcome Audrey to Heaven are her loving parents, Nancy Tudor, and Michael Romaniuk and, her siblings Grace Moran and Dave Roman, her son-in-law Jim Nichols and countless friends who have previously passed. Audrey would have wanted everyone to remember that just as she touched their lives, everyone she met touched hers. We will forever carry her in our hearts.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Community (800 – 85th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 2:30 p.m.
