Obituary of Ruth Lindsay

Aug 1, 1946 – South Porcupine, Ontario
November 11, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts the family of G. Ruth Lindsay announces her peaceful passing on November 11, 2023, with loved ones by her side.

Beloved wife of the late Gordon H. Lindsay (2014). Ruth was kind, gentle and compassionate. Left to mourn is her only son, Tim Lindsay; daughter-in-law Silvana; grandchildren whom she adored, Sidnee Mouwen (Nik), Ross Lindsay (Katie Blain) and Sofia Lindsay; and her brother Brian Wilson (Sybil). Ruth is also survived by sisters-in law, Ruth Barber (Jim d.) and Jean Lindsay (Gorm d.). She is dearly loved and will be deeply missed by several nieces and nephews across Canada, as well as extended family and many close friends in Ontario and Calgary. Ruth is predeceased by her parents Irvin and Vera Wilson; brothers, Joe (Trudy), Leonard (Collette), Garnet (Jan Mullin), Gary (Heather d.), Earl and Gord Wilson (Tammy); sisters, Helen Rozich (John), Margaret Bolduc (Don), and Irene Seddon (Keith d.); niece Beverly Boros; and her nephew Kevin Wilson.

Ruth enjoyed a long career with Canadian Tire both in Alberta and Ontario. She loved working in the sports department and training new staff. Previously, Ruth had a lengthy career at Lindsay Specialty Products (the "Antenna") where she met many lifelong friends. After Gord's passing, Ruth moved to Calgary to be closer to Tim, Silvana and her grandchildren. She was excited to start her new life, in her own condo. Ruth was friendly to all those lucky to have met her. She was instantly loved by all residents; she would help organize and decorate for social events, and there were many. Ruth loved to travel, dance, sing and was always ready for a game of Euchre or a visit over coffee with "yous". Ruth was a dog lover and gave many a beautiful life while in her care. Above all, her greatest joy was spending time with family and enjoying many vacations and experiences, creating cherished memories. She eagerly attended all her grandchildren's extracurricular activities and was always excited and grateful to celebrate their milestones and achievements. We will all miss you.
