Obituary of Ron Ott

On Monday, November 13, 2023, beloved father, husband, and friend Ron Ott passed away peacefully in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 58 years.

Ron was born in Calgary, Alberta and attended the University of Calgary where he achieved one of his greatest accomplishments, his Bachelor of Science in Geology. He was a hard working, driven professional who spent his entire career at McDaniel & Associates Consultants Ltd. It was in this career that he gained many lifelong friendships and the utmost respect of all those he worked with. He was intelligent, dedicated, and always the person you could count on.

Ron held many titles in his life from Geologist to Vice President, but his favorite title of all was Dad. Ron loved being a father and was always there to support, love, and spend time with Courtney. Even if that meant learning how to french braid her hair for dance recitals or working through math homework questions for hours together. Ron was a phenomenal father who passed along his love of travel, craft beer, education, and homemade pizza to his daughter.

Ron was a loving husband to Lee Ann and the two shared years of travelling, laughs and quality time. They enjoyed their winter escapes and were always looking for the next trip to plan together.

Ron loved those close to him dearly and always put others before himself. He had eyes that said a million words and a smile that showed his genuine kindness and welcoming to everyone.

Ron enjoyed golfing, cars, his new found passion of wood pen making, going on fishing trips with his friends and travelling the world. He has truly lived an extraordinary life and has been a blessing to everyone whose lives he has touched.

He will be lovingly remembered for having a kind heart, a compassionate soul, and a brilliant mind.

Ron is survived by his daughter Courtney; his wife Lee Ann; as well as his two sisters, Sylvia (Ken) and Wendy. Ron was predeceased by his mother Maria and father Gebhard (Fred).

A Celebration of Ron’s life will be held at Calgary Golf & Country Club (919 50 Ave SW, Calgary, AB T2S 1H1) on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Country Club. Please note there is a dress code at the Golf Course, no jeans are permitted. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Ron’s family here.
