Obituary of Peter William Reid

August 1, 1957 – Paris, Ontario

November 13, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Peter Reid, beloved husband of Adrienne Reid (nee Trites), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023, at the age of 66 years.

Peter was born in Paris, Ontario and lived there until he was 14 years of age. He then moved to Calgary with his parents and spent the rest of his life in Alberta. Peter always considered Calgary to be his home and he never ventured far from his adopted city.

His career started as a manager of a sporting goods store, but he spent most of his life working in the food service industry. He was a sales rep for eight years and then when the company division was sold, he eventually returned to food service to oversee the dairy department at Associated Grocers. He retired in 2022 and he loved the fact that he could sleep in every morning!

In 1998 he married his wife, Adrienne, and they spent the rest of their lives together. He brought people a great deal of happiness and joy as he always had a good joke or something funny to say. We will miss your gentle sense of humour, Pete. We wish there were more people in the world like you to brighten up our days!

Peter's passions in life were music and golf. He compiled a list of 150 of his favourite rock ‘n’ roll songs and took a great deal of enjoyment in listening to music.  He was an avid golfer and started playing golf at the Paris Golf Course when he was nine years old. In his later years when golfing was too challenging due to health issues, he was devoted to watching the Golf Channel every day.

Peter was predeceased by his sister, Jan, and his parents, Calvin and Marguerite "Gus" Reid. He leaves to mourn, his wife Adrienne, cousins Stephen Roos and his wife Linda, and Ted Roos, his niece Kristin, his nephew Michael, and his brother-in-law, Wayne Stephenson, all of Ontario. He will be missed by his brother-in-law, Douglas and his wife Cheryl, and their two sons, Nathan and Christian, all of Winnipeg.

Until we meet again, may God hold you in his care. May you always be a bright light, no matter where you are.
