Betty “Lynne” Beamer of Calgary, Alberta passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023, at the age of 82 years. 

Lynne was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, and attended Manitoba Teachers College. She was a Girl Guides of Canada member for 50 years and volunteered with the organization. She was employed for 30 years, many of which she spent producing educational TV programming for children, and enjoyed hobbies such as golf, swimming, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. Lynne moved to Hawaii at the age of 23 to teach. There, in 1964, she met her husband Donald Beamer, who was in the United States Airforce, based at Hickam Airforce Base in Honolulu, Hawaii. In January 1965, Don was posted to Vietnam for six months, during which time he proposed with a ring through the mail. They were married in Edmonton in November 1965. Lynne continued to work in different forms of education and consulting throughout her career. She was passionate about golfing and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and Arizona. Lynne will be most remembered for her resilience and strength and love for her family.

She was the beloved mother of Jennifer Beamer (Debito Beamer) and Christine Bednarek (Jodi Bednarek), grandmother of Luke and Kyla Bednarek and big sister of Barbara Sandilands (Ali Ramezani). She was predeceased by her brother Richard Sandilands, and her parents Adam and Peggy Sandilands.
