Obituary of Winnifred Jean Bailey

September 6, 1930 - November 14, 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wyn Bailey (nee Jenkinson) at the age of 93 years. Wyn is survived by her son Paul Bailey (and Terri) of Calgary, daughter Allison Pagett of Kimberley (and Richard) and grandchildren, Conner, William, and Mackenzie. She was predeceased by her mother and father (Agnes and William) and sister Doreen McKay.

Born in Winnipeg, Wyn married in 1952 and moved to North Vancouver, where she volunteered at the Lion’s Gate Hospital Nursery, was an original member of the North Shore Winter Club, represented Vancouver in the curling provincials, and was the president of the Ladies Curling Club. She continued this lifelong love of curling when she moved back to Winnipeg (1968), then to Edmonton (1977) and Calgary (1980).

She was a dog lover and avid Bridge player. She loved to hike, cross country ski, snowshoe and watch curling, football and hockey. She was a member of the Family Leisure Center Seniors Group and proudly supported and volunteered at the Lunch Box Theatre for 25 years, Bonavista Players, and Theatre Calgary. Wyn was an active, social, and generous person whose love and laugh will be greatly missed by family and the many friends that held her very dear to their hearts.

In living memory of Winnifred Bailey, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, Ab t2x 3j3, Telephone: 403-256-9575.
