Condolences
It was such a beautiful fall day in September that Stan and I decided to take the trike out for one last ride. Where to go? Let’s go visit Uncle Don in Calgary, as we did quite a few times over the years. He called us crazy kids for coming all that way to visit him, but deep down I think he loved the idea. We had a wonderful visit, although it was bitter sweet, knowing this was probably going to be the last time we would see him. We took him out for lunch at a nearby pub - we weren’t in a hurry and neither were the staff so we sat and lingered - sharing many memories and stories. We slowly walked back to the care facility - stopping many times to rest and enjoy the beautiful fall colours. Once back at the facility, we visited some more but finally had to get on the road as once the sun went down, it got quite chilly quite fast. We were fortunate to say our goodbyes to Uncle Don while he was very cognitive, and enjoy a loving all embracing bear hug one more time. I will miss those hugs! May you rest in peace Uncle Don.
