Obituary of Gonzalo Alfonso Rodriguez

Gonzalo Rodriguez, of Calgary, AB, passed away Friday, November 17, 2023, at the age of 55 years.

Gonzalo was born in Tome, Chile, on December 8, 1967.

He emigrated from Chile in 1975. He resided in Calgary, AB, for most of his life and briefly spent some time in Toronto, ON, and Montreal, QC, as well.

Gonzalo accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of many titles he received, such as a warehouse worker, father, and grandfather.

Gonzalo enjoyed meeting new people and spending time with his family. He particularity loved to spend time with his son and grandson. He was known for his love of cooking, and ensured his family knew the best ways to prepare a meal.

Gonzalo also had a love of horticulture; his home was full of his favorite plants and trees, especially his money tree.

Gonzalo is survived by his parents Valentin and Arzonia Rodriguez; son Kyle, and grandson Gabriel. Gonzalo is also survived by his two brothers Marcelo (Joanne), and Andre (Barbara); his sister Claudia (Raymond), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gonzalo was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents, Irene Lagos and Uberlindo Palma, Edmundo Rodriguez and Natividad Matamala. Uncle on his father’s side, Edmundo Rodriguez, as well as an aunt on his mother’s side, Gladys Palma, and uncle Alfonso Palma. 

Celebration of Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
