Braulio “Brau” Yanez Guillen, beloved son of Orlando Yanez and Maricela Guillen, and brother of Emiliano and Bruno Yanez Guillen, of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at the age of 18 years.

Brau was born in Queretaro, Queretaro, Mexico on April 16, 2005, and later moved to Calgary, AB, with his family.

Brau attended and graduated from St Francis High School. He went on to study at the University of Calgary, through the Haskayne School of Business.

He volunteered with the Public Library and Galary in Peterborough, Ontario. Brau was very passionate about video games, and also enjoyed many sports, including baseball.

Brau was a very kind kid and is described as the type of person who was always willing to help anyone; his family is extremely proud of him for this.

Brau’s most memorable vacation was when him and his family spent a month in Vancouver studying English when he was 10 years old. He enjoyed visiting different places after school and on the weekends, and they would go to explore the Rocky Mountains, Whistler, Victoria, and more. His family remembers that in Whistler was the first time that he saw snow; together, they walked a lot to get to the point of the mountain that had a sheet of snow. Brau was very happy and excited for this experience.

He will be remembered for many things, but especially for his kindness, empathy, and sincerity. Brau was a great son and brother, who was always helping others when they needed. He was an all around kind person.

Brau is survived by his parents, Orlando Yanez and Maricela Guillen, as well as his two younger brothers, Emiliano and Bruno Yanez Guillen; as well as numerous family members in Mexico, who love him dearly. He is also survived by his grandmother, Cirenia Anaya Garcia and grandmother Maria Franco Vega, of Queretaro, Queretaro, Mexico; his beloved dog, Tanque, as well as cousins, extended family members, and friends. He was predeceased by his grandfather Enrique Yanez Garcia and grandfather Emiliano Guillen Frias as well as his beloved dog, Kenya.
