Helen Perasalo

Obituary of Helen Eva Perasalo

May 13, 1940 – Regina, Saskatchewan

November 25, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

Helen Eva Perasalo (Penman) passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023.

Mother, Mother-in-law, Sister, Grandmother, Auntie and Friend. Helen was loved by all who knew her, and she will be missed by all. She was a caring, giving, generous woman. Her laugh was infectious, and she was never afraid to be goofy with her grandchildren.

Helen worked at Henry Wisewood High School for 25 years. She retired in 2001 to spend time with her grandkids, family, and friends. Even in retirement, she was pulled back into the school environment, by volunteering for her grandkids lunch program. A new generation then got to experience her immense kindness.

In the years following, as our children grew older, our family only grew closer. Helen was the anchor that kept us together and fostered the closeness that remains to this day.

The impact she left on those around her will never be forgotten. In our hearts her smile will remain and in our conversations her name will often frequent.

In Our Hearts

We thought of you today,

but that is nothing new.

We thought about you yesterday

and days before that too.

We think of you in silence,

we often speak your name.

Now all we have is memories

and your picture in a frame.

Your memory is our keepsake

with which we’ll never part.

God has you in his keeping.

We have you in our heart.

In lieu of a funeral, when the family is ready, we will celebrate Helen’s life and share in all the memories we each hold of her.

In living memory of Helen Perasalo, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, Ab t2x 3j3, Telephone: 403-256-9575.
