Obituary of Janice Rae Silzer

July 30, 1957 - Barrie, Ontario

December 20, 2023 - Calgary, Alberta

Jan passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at the age of 66. Jan was the second of six children to Anne and Bill Ewing. She grew up in Regina, where she began her career in the automotive industry with Midwest Motors. It is here, she met Keith in 1973. Together they moved to Alberta, making Calgary their permanent home. Jan and Keith married on May 15, 1982, in Passburg, AB. True to Jan's no-fuss nature, she picked the smallest chapel possible with room for just three people.

Jan continued her career at GSL Chev City and then moved to Westminster Auto Leasing. Later Westminster was acquired by Jim Pattison Lease, where she thrived serving her many clients over the years. Jan was committed to providing the best client care possible. She enjoyed being part of the Pattison family, where she shared her years of experience with her colleagues until her passing. She valued the many long-standing friendships made there.

Jan was a committed and loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, and Friend to all that knew and loved her. She will always be remembered by her husband Keith and children, Pam Silzer (Justin) and Kyle Silzer. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Cade and Kasen, and lovingly remembered by Kasen's mother, Amber.

Jan is survived by her mother Anne Ewing and siblings, Jim (Myrna) Ewing, Jennifer (Tim) Yorke, Bonny (Russ) Rasmussen, and Karen (Brock) Linnell. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Clance) Mooney, Barb (Gary) Hudson, Shirley McDougall, and Eldeen Sauers. Jan was predeceased by her father Bill Ewing and sister Brenda Ewing. She took great interest in her numerous nieces and nephews. They brought much joy to her over the years.

Jan loved to cook and host friends and family. She enjoyed word games and had a knack for solving mathematical problems. She enjoyed getaways which included relaxing at her Sundre property, as well as her annual sisters' getaways to Canmore.

Jan will be forever missed by all that knew and loved her.
