Obituary of Sumanbhai Dahyabhai Merchant

March 7, 1940 – Mumbai, India

December 1, 2023– Calgary, Alberta

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Suman Dahyabhai Merchant on Friday, December 1, 2023, at the age of 83. He left this world, as he lived it, peacefully and surrounded by all his family.

A loving and kind husband, father, and grandfather he is survived by his dearest wife Mohini of 57 years, his daughters Vaishali (Sandip) Chikhlia, and Krishna (Hitesh) Hazari. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren Jesse, Nikhil, Karina, Aakash, and Kiran; his brothers (late) Anil (Kumud) Merchant and Rajni (Dhanlaxmi) Merchant; sister Nalini (Jayesh) Kapadia; and finally, by his cherished extended family and friends. He was the son of (late) Dahyabhai and (late) Jasuben Merchant and a son-in-law of (late) Jekishandas and (late) Kamuben Tailor.

The family is grateful for everyone’s love and support and humbly request privacy during this difficult time.

A Funeral Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street SE, Calgary, AB), on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Merchant’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
