Obituary of Alexandra Jason Ann Mackey

February 20, 2002 - December 1, 2023

Alexandra “Alex” Mackey, of Calgary, AB, passed away on December 1, 2023, at the age of 21 years. Our precious Alexandra left us far too soon. We will miss her beautiful smile. She will be remembered as the kindest, most caring young woman with a passion for helping others.

Alex was born on February 20, 2002 in Calgary, AB. She grew up in Strathmore, AB leaving to continue her education at Crescent Heights High School where she graduated in 2020.

Alex had a passion for all animals, especially cats. Her comfort cat Ahri received her constant attention. He always lifted her spirits. Alex was a student of life. She would always advocate for herself and explore ways of navigating life's challenges.

She pursued many interests. Growing up in Strathmore, she pitched and played first base for girls fastball and played the position of goalie in ringette. Alex was an artist with an interest in graphic design, painting, writing and photography. She was most passionate about helping others overcome their struggles just as she worked so hard to overcome her own.

Alex is survived by her parents, Tyler (Angela) Mackey of Pennsylvania and Lillian (Jordan Seely) Rozanski of Strathmore; sister Samantha (Whitney Johnston) Mackey of Lethbridge, brother Johnny Rozanski of Cold Lake, sister Jennifer Rozanski of Quebec City, grandparents, Ann Mackey and Dennis Stein of Calgary; grandfather Rusty Mackey of Calgary, Auntie Robbin (Anthony Frater) Mackey of Scotland, Uncle Jason (Yvonne) Rozanski of Ontario, godparents Tim and Terri Flaherty of Calgary; along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in Canada and the United States. She was predeceased by her grandmother Marion Rozanski Sutherland.

The family wishes to thank the Calgary Fire Department, EMS and Calgary Police who attended to Alex on December 1, 2023.
